GO — GET UNCOMFORTABLE

“Don’t ever get too comfortable,” they say. “It’s easy,” they say. No. It’s never easy to not get comfortable. It’s never easy to say, “You know what, I’m in great shoes, but I could be in better ones.” Why? Because the majority of us are thankful we’re even wearing those shoes to begin with.

This week put something in bold for me: I’ve wasted too much time. After graduating college with a bachelor’s degree in something I was so passionate about, I got comfortable; the type of comfort that let my passions take a backseat. Things became entirely too real for me that year so I did what I could with what I had. I landed a job that paid me well enough to handle my sudden massive amount of bills and…that was it. I wasn’t doing what I loved and still wondered why I lacked complete happiness. I forgot what it was to live to work because I was working to live.

Everyone is born with a talent. Don’t waste yours. And if you are utilizing your talents and you’re good at what you do, don’t do it for free. My talent? Expression. Whether I’m “good” at it or not, creating something used to give me an inexplicable high. A high I forgot felt so good to me as well as my audience. My reality is sadly that of many. Realizing that you’re not where you intended to be when you were asked that “long term goal question” 10 years ago. Realizing that you didn’t really do all you could to make your dreams possible. Realizing that yes, you’ve been grinding, but where you’ve been grinding isn’t IT.

Thankfully, this past year was the advent of my prime…or what I’d like to think I’m getting close to reaching. I’ve surrounded myself with nothing but happy, nurturing and inspiring environments and in turn they opened my eyes. I see everything as a resource and every place and everyone as inspiration. That high? It promotes happiness and fulfillment in my life. That high? I feel it more and more everyday and I want nothing more than for you to feel it too.

So go. Get uncomfortable. Love every second of it.
